Celebrating 'World Read Aloud Day'

The children of Neshaminy Montessori enjoyed some extra stories for World Read Aloud Day! Their teachers understand the importance of young children listening to stories read by a grown up at this age. The teacher read a variety of books from fairytales to nonfiction to poetry to books that the children bring in from home to share with their friends. The children love to take off their shoes, curl up and listen to stories for 20-30 minutes every day. This not only provides them with some time to rest and relax, it also exposes them to vocabulary rich, fluid reading that puts them at an educational advantage over children who do not get read aloud to each day.
